James raced for over 12 years and finally retired from competetive racing late 2008 after finishing his degree in Advertising and Marketing at University. James drove for many top teams including Sodikart ,CRG as well as been Works Zip young guns driver for three years and works TKM driver for five season.

In 2009 he took on the role of Cadet team Manager with Ultimate Motorsport and in his first year of running the team he aided the success of George Russell to British Champion, Vice National Champion, Kartmasters Champion and British Open champion in their first season together a feat that has only been repeated once before. After Ultimate withdrew from Motorsport James went on his own setting up the new team Eclipse Motorsport.

In 2010 Eclipse first full season they won 2 of the Major 5 titles and joint British Champions after the end of a tough but productive first year and know are regarded as one of the top Comer cadet teams in the UK.
